Z-Bar Pendant at Red Dot Design Museum in Xiamen, China

The prestigious Red Dot award for product design was presented to Koncept for their "Z-Bar Pendant line in 2018. This dynamic family of architectural lighting systems features various standard configurations, such as the "Bird," "Honeycomb" and "Rise Square." Designers can create custom shapes to suit their project requirements, using Koncept's dedicated web app and/or the assistance of the sales team.

The Z-Bar Pendant was showcased as part of Red Dot's winning product exhibition, in the Red Dot Design Museum, Essen, Germany. The product was so well appreciated that it was also selected to illuminate the entryway of a co-creating area called "the Space" in the newest Red Dot Design Museum, in Xiamen, China. For this particular project, designers specified four pendants configured into zig zag shapes. The zig zagged light, together with the metal walls and large red letters spelling "SPACE," evokes a retro and creative vibe. This is highly appropriate, since the SPACE serves as a hub for visitors to work, read from the design library or even experiment with award-winning products.

This Red Dot design museum branch, one of three worldwide, is situated in Terminal 2 of Xiamen Gaoqi Airport. Airports around the world are seeing upgrades that reflect their respective territory's desire to educate travelers on local history and culture. The airport is increasingly serving as an experiential museum, regardless of whether they house an actual museum, like Xiamen's compelling terminal.
