Calgary's new Central Library

In November 2018, a new five-level library opened to the public in Calgary, Alberta. Renowned international design firm, Snøhetta, collaborated with Calgary-based DIALOG to design this highly anticipated new structure. The “jewel” of this magnificent library, the Great Reading Room, is located on the uppermost level. It serves as an inspirational space for study and productivity. Möbius, a designer and manufacturer of custom wood products, created desks that host power sources along with through-table mounted Sobre task lights. Library patrons can work digitally or partake in the timeless activity of book reading, all while enjoying the comforts of a thoughtfully designed space.

Available in three finishes and various sizes, Sobre’s LED light bar rotates and dims, allowing users to adjust the light as they wish. Sobre is available as a stand-alone product, or, as seen in these images, multiple units can be connected together. Koncept’s task lights and Möbius’ desks complement each other both functionally and aesthetically.
